Bioskills Facility Opens In Las Vegas
New MERIN facility largest in the Western U.S.
LAS VEGAS (August 8, 2005) – Following 18-months of meticulous planning, the Medical Education & Research Institute of Nevada (MERIN), the largest and most technologically advanced bioskills facility in the Western United States, opened with a three-day surgical training program for more than 70 surgeons, and sponsored by Smith & Nephew, an international medical device and equipment company headquartered in Memphis, TN. The new surgical training facility, located in Henderson, Nevada, is approximately ten minutes from the famed Las Vegas Strip and McCarran International Airport.
Founded by orthopedic surgeon Michael Crovetti, D.O., the independent, not-for-profit MERIN is an 18,000-square-foot teaching facility, which features a state-of-the-art 50-seat surgical amphitheatre. Four mounted plasma screens allow for precise viewing of procedures from anywhere in the theater. Nine spacious surgical suites provide ample room for the testing and hands-on application of new procedures and equipment. MERIN’s main 95-seat lecture hall features the latest in technological communication advances enabling presentations to be broadcast internationally. Private conference rooms for small group meetings and sales training are equipped to provide real-time viewing of lecture hall or amphitheatre activities.
